Oh, what a joy it is to live, oh, what a sight to behold when every part returns to its true origin.  
Everywhere he turns, he finds wine without a goblet, and everywhere he looks, he sees a charming lover.  
A lover whose ruby lips, if they touch the hard stone, would bring life to the stone until it becomes aware.  
Wine was stolen from the lips of my beloved, and thus, in love with those lips, my soul became intoxicated.  
At dawn, a monk joined me on the path to the monastery; I saw him as both my companion in pain and my partner in action.  
That good-natured companion brought me a goblet, and from that goblet, my soul became intoxicated and drunk.  
In the midst of intoxication, Shams of Tabriz appeared, providing a solution for the helpless towards union with him.
