The tears of Akhavan Yusef are a trick, for inside they are full of envy and ailment.
The story of the Arab whose dog was dying of hunger while his bag was full of bread, and he lamented over the dog, reciting poetry, crying, and hitting his head, reluctant to give a morsel from the bag to the dog.
The dog was dying and the Arab was crying, shedding tears and saying, "Oh, sorrow."
A passerby asked, "What is this crying for? For whom is your lamentation and wailing?"
He said, "In my land, there was a good-natured dog, and now it is dying in the middle of the road."
"By day, it was my hunter and by night, my guard, sharp-eyed, catching prey and thieves."
The passerby asked, "What is its ailment? Has it been wounded?" He replied, "The dog's hunger has made it wretched."
The passerby said, "Be patient with this suffering and greed; God grants a reward to the patient."
Then he asked, "Oh, noble leader, what is in your full bag?"
He replied, "Bread and provisions from last night, which I carry to strengthen my body."
The passerby asked, "Why don't you give that bread and provisions to the dog?" He replied, "I don't have that much love and generosity."
"One cannot obtain bread on the road without money, but the water of tears is free."
The passerby said, "Shame on you, oh musk-filled one, for a piece of bread is better to you than tears."
"Tears are blood turned into water by sorrow; the soil of wasted blood is worthless."
He debased himself like Iblis; a piece of this whole is nothing but worthless.
I am a servant of the one who does not sell his being except to the Sultan with generosity and grace.
When the sky cries, it becomes tearful; when the heavens lament, it becomes a divine call.
I am a servant of that copper worshipper of ambition, who does not break except for the alchemy.
Raise your broken hand in prayer; God's grace flies to the broken.
If you want to escape this narrow pit, oh brother, turn to the fire without delay.
See the trick of God and abandon your own trick, oh you who are ashamed of the trick of the tricksters by His trick.
