Despite my reluctance, he grabs both my ears, saying, "Oh fool, if you cover it, then cover it well."
I tell him, "Go, even though you are boiling over, you are as apparent as the soul and yet hidden."
He says, "This body of mine is imprisoned in a jar, like wine, I play in the feast of the jar."
I tell him, "Before you become a pawn, let no disaster of intoxication befall you."
He says, "I drink from the delicate cup, my companion from day until my evening prayer."
When evening comes and steals my cup, I tell him, "Return it, for my evening has not come."
That Arab named wine 'eternal' because there is no satiety for the drinker forever.
Love brews the wine of truth; it is the hidden cupbearer of the sincere.
When you seek beauty with the grace of goodness, the wine is the water of the soul, the body is the pitcher.
When the wine of grace increases, the strength of the wine breaks the pitcher.
The water becomes the cupbearer and also intoxicated with water, so do not say, "By God, He knows best what is right."
It is the radiance of the cupbearer that went into the syrup; the syrup boiled over, danced, and became robust.
