Although he took the king's saddle, in the end, he took the path of perfection.
And the third one was the laziest of the three, yet he completely captivated both form and meaning.
The will of that person who said after me, my wealth will be taken by my laziest child among my three children.
That person, at the time of his death, said in his will beforehand:
He had three sons like three flowing cypresses, to whom he dedicated his soul and spirit.
He said, "Whatever goods and gold are in my possession, the laziest of these three will take it."
He spoke to the judge and then gave advice, after which he drank the cup of death.
The children said to the judge, "O noble one, we three orphans will not deviate from his command.
We will listen and obey, for his command is binding upon us." Just as Ishmael did not turn away from his Abraham, even if he was to be sacrificed.
The judge said, "Each one, with his wisdom, should tell a story of his laziness,
So I can see the laziness of each one, to know the state of each without doubt."
The mystics are lazier than both worlds because they reap the harvest without being.
They have made laziness their proof, as God does their work.
The common people do not see God's work; they do not rest from the toil of morning and evening.
Come, speak of the extent of laziness, so I may know its limit from the revelation of secrets.
Surely, every tongue is the veil of the heart; when it moves, the secrets are revealed.
A small veil, like a slice of kebab, can cover the face of a hundred suns.
Though the expression of speech may be false, its scent informs of its truth or falsehood.
The breeze that comes to you from the garden is evident from the poison of the sewer.
The scent of truth and the scent of falsehood are evident in the breath, like musk and garlic.
If you do not know a friend from a deceiver, blame your own corrupt sense of smell.
The cry of cowards and brave hearts is evident, like the art of the fox and the lion.
Or the tongue is like the lid of a pot; when it moves, you know what is inside.
From its steam, the sharp-minded knows the sweet pot from the sour stew.
When a young man placed his hand on a new pot, he saw the broken one at the time of purchase.
He said, "I know a man from his face at the moment, even if he does not speak, I will know him in three days."
He said, "If he had heard this trick, he would close his lips and go into silence."
Example:
Just as the mother said to her child, "If a thought comes to you at night,
Or in the graveyard and a terrifying place, you see a dark, vengeful thought,
Be brave and attack it, it will immediately turn away from you."
The child said, "If that devilish thought had been told this by its mother,
I would attack, and it would fall upon my neck. After my mother's command, what should I do then?"
You teach me to stand firm; that ugly thought also has a mother.
The demon and the people are taught by the same one; if the enemy is small, he becomes dominant.
To which side is that gentle one? By God, be on that side too.
He said, "If the trick does not come into speech, that noble one would have known the deceit.
How do you recognize his secret? Speak the truth." He said, "I will sit silently before him.
I will make patience my ladder to the rank, for patience is the key to relief.
And if it boils in his presence from my heart, a speech beyond this joy and sorrow,
I know that he sent it to me from the heart, like Canopus in Yemen."
