Live not to be a companion of Jesus, nor die to become the breath of Jesus.
You may have read it in Kalila, but that is the shell of the story, and this is the essence of the soul.
Several hunters passed by that pond and saw its contents.
They hurried to bring nets, but the fish became aware and wise.
The wise one decided to leave, even though the path was difficult and unwanted.
He said, "I will not consult with them, for they will surely weaken my resolve."
Their love for their birthplace is fierce, and their laziness and ignorance will affect me.
Consultation requires a good living person who can enliven you, but where is that living one?
O traveler, consult with a fellow traveler, for the counselor has a lame foot.
Pass beyond the breath of love for the homeland, for the homeland is there, and the soul is not here.
If you desire a homeland, cross to the other side of the river; read this true story, not the wrong one.
The recitation of ablution prayers during ablution:
For each part of the ablution, there is a separate prayer, as mentioned in the tradition for supplication.
When you rinse your nose, ask the rich Lord for the scent of paradise.
So that scent may draw you towards paradise, the scent of flowers is a guide to the gardens.
When you perform istinja, the prayer and words are, "O Lord, cleanse me from this."
My hand reached here and washed this, but my hand is weak in washing the soul.
O You, who have made the souls of the unworthy, let Your hand of grace reach the souls.
I have done my part, O Generous One, cleanse beyond my limit.
I have washed my skin from impurity, O God, wash this friend from calamities.
Someone, during istinja, said, "O God, let me smell the fragrance of paradise," instead of saying, "O God, make me among the repentant and the purified," which is the prayer of istinja. He said the prayer of istinja during rinsing the nose. A noble person heard this and could not bear it.
One said during istinja, "Let me be joined with the scent of paradise."
Someone said, "You have brought a good prayer, but you have missed the right hole."
This prayer is for the nose, but you brought it to the anus.
The scent of paradise is found through the nose, the scent of paradise rarely comes from the rear.
O humility before fools, and pride before kings.
That pride is good and fitting for the vile, do not go backward, its opposite is your bond.
The flower grew for the nostril, the scent is the duty of the nose, O stubborn one.
The scent of the flower is for the nostrils, O brave one, the place for that scent is not this lower hole.
How can the scent of paradise come to you from here? If you want the scent, seek it from the right place.
Similarly, love for the homeland is true, recognize your homeland first, O master.
The clever fish said, "I will take the path and remove my heart from their advice."
This is not the time for consultation, take the path, like Ali, sigh in the well.
The confidant of that sigh is rare, travel at night and secretly like a patrol.
Head towards the sea from this pond, seek the ocean and leave this whirlpool.
He made his chest his foot and went, from the place of danger to the sea of light.
Like a deer pursued by a dog, running as long as there is a vein in its body.
The sleep of a rabbit with a dog in pursuit is a mistake, where is sleep in the eyes of the fearful?
The fish went and took the path to the sea, taking the long and wide path.
He saw many hardships, and in the end, he went towards safety and well-being.
He threw himself into the deep sea, where no side finds its limit.
When the hunters brought the net, the half-wise one became bitter.
He said, "Oh, I missed the opportunity, why didn't I follow that guide?"
Suddenly he went, but when he went, I should have quickly followed him.
Regretting the past is a mistake, what has gone will not return, remembering it is futile.
The story of the bird that was caught and advised not to regret the past, but to think of the future and not waste time in regret.
A bird was caught by trickery and trap, the bird said, "O noble master,
You have eaten many cows and sheep, you have sacrificed many camels.
You were not satisfied with them in time, nor will you be satisfied with my parts.
Let me give you three pieces of advice, so you know if I am clever or foolish.
The first advice is in your hand, the second on your clay roof,
And the third advice I will give you on the tree, so you may become fortunate from these three pieces of advice.
Your fortune and the fortune of your children, that jewel is the right of your soul.
You missed what was not your provision, for there is no such thing in existence.
Just as when a pregnant woman gives birth, the master is in turmoil.
The bird said, "I advised you not to grieve over the past day.
When it has passed and gone, why do you grieve? Either you did not understand my advice, or you are deaf.
And the second advice I gave you is not to believe in impossible words.
I am not three dirhams in weight, O lion, how can I have ten dirhams inside me?
The master returned to himself and said, "Come on, tell me that good third advice."
He said, "Yes, you acted well, so I will tell you the third free advice.
Giving advice to a sleepy fool is like throwing a throne on barren soil.
The tear of foolishness and ignorance does not accept mending, sow the seed of wisdom sparingly, O advisor."
The half-wise fish's strategy and pretending to be dead.
The other fish said in the time of trouble, when separated from the shadow of the wise one,
Who went to the sea and from the ancient sorrow, I lost such a good companion.
But I will not worry about that and will pretend to be dead now.
Then I will raise my belly above, with my back below, and float on the water.
I will float on it like debris floats, not swimming like a person.
I will become dead and entrust myself to the water, death before death is safety from torment.
Death before death is safety, O young one, this is what Mustafa told us.
He said, "Die before death comes to you, die in trials."
Thus he died and raised his belly, the water carried him down and sometimes up.
Each of those messengers was very sorrowful, "Alas, the better fish has died."
He was happy that they said, "Alas," he advanced, escaping the sword.
Then a noble hunter caught him, spat on him, and threw him on the ground.
He rolled and went hidden into the water, the fool remained in turmoil.
From left and right, that simple one was searching to save himself and escape.
They cast the net, and he remained in the net, his foolishness placed him in that fire.
On the fire, on the back of a pan, with foolishness, he became a bedfellow.
He was boiling from the heat of the flame, reason was saying to him, "Did no warner come to you?"
He was saying from the torture and calamity, like the soul of the disbelievers, "Yes."
He was saying again, "If this time I escape from this neck-breaking torment,
I will make my homeland only in the sea, I will not make a pond my dwelling."
